Location: Hicksville, NY (initially onsite during training), transitioning to Garden City, NY.
Schedule: This role requires candidates to be fully onsite five days per week during the training period. After training, the position transitions to a hybrid schedule with in-office work required on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

Compensation: $121,000 – $150,000 annually, based on skills and experience.

Position Overview

The Epic Physician Billing Analyst plays a critical role in the configuration, maintenance, support, and optimization of the Epic Professional Billing (Resolute PB) module. This position ensures that accurate billing, claims processing, and reimbursement are carried out for services provided by healthcare professionals. The analyst acts as a subject matter expert, supporting revenue cycle operations and bridging the gap between clinical staff, IT, and financial teams.

Key Responsibilities
System Configuration and Maintenance
  • Configure, customize, and optimize the Epic Professional Billing application to support organizational workflows and business requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance the Resolute PB module for managing charges, benefit engines, and workflows with external collection agencies.
  • Build, test, and validate changes, presenting solutions to stakeholders, and migrate updates to production environments.
  • Conduct regular system maintenance and ensure alignment with best practices for system performance and functionality.
Workflow Analysis and Optimization
  • Analyze existing billing and financial workflows to identify gaps and recommend improvements.
  • Design and implement best-practice workflows to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance user experience.
  • Collaborate across IT, finance, and clinical teams to ensure Epic functionality supports and improves operational processes.
Support and Troubleshooting
  • Serve as the primary support contact for end-users of the Epic PB module.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to billing, claims, reimbursement, and integration with other Epic modules.
  • Provide on-call support on a rotating basis to address urgent system issues.
  • Partner with revenue cycle teams to maintain claim scrubbers, payment processors, and other revenue-related workflows.
Training and Documentation
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for end-users to improve adoption and effective use of the Epic PB module.
  • Create and maintain documentation for workflows, processes, and internal procedures.
  • Mentor staff and serve as a knowledge resource for Epic billing capabilities.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain up-to-date Epic certifications and stay informed of system enhancements and industry changes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and billing standards, including transitions between coding and claims formats (e.g., ICD-10, X12 4010/5010).
  • Evaluate each Epic system upgrade, assess impacts, and recommend or implement necessary changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years working with Epic Professional Billing, including system configuration, support, and optimization.
  • Certification: Epic Professional Billing certification required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Technical Expertise:

    • Proficiency in Epic PB module, including charge router, workqueue configuration, benefit engine, and statement processing.
    • Strong knowledge of claim scrubbers, collections workflows, and reimbursement processes.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Healthcare Industry Knowledge:

    • Deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycle operations.
    • Familiarity with billing codes (CPT, ICD-10) and insurance claim requirements.
    • Clear understanding of professional billing vs. hospital billing differences.
