Our client, a large public sector organization, is seeking a Data Center Technician for an onsite contract position in downtown Brooklyn.  This is a 2 year contract (35 hours per week). You can onboard as our W2 employee or independent contractor. Pay range of $65-$80/hour 

Overview:

The Data Center Technician will support the Data Center Operations team at the Department of Education (DOE)/DIIT by deploying and maintaining network infrastructure. This includes racking, stacking, cabling, decommissioning, and using data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.


Project Goals:

  • Deploy data center network infrastructure (Cisco ACI, Nexus switches, ASR routers, FirePower firewalls, VMware NSX, F5 Load Balancers).
  • Rack and cable all network equipment based on design documents.
  • Configure and test all infrastructure components.
  • Migrate legacy network systems to new platforms.
  • Decommission outdated and legacy equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and cable data center equipment.
  • Maintain and update documentation and DCIM tools.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.
  • Uninstall and remove legacy equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure data center environment.

Must Have:

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience working in a data center environment.
  • Experience supporting network infrastructure and resolving LAN issues.
  • Skilled in using documentation tools such as MS Excel, Visio, and Word.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks required for installing and removing equipment.

Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Previous experience working in the education or public sector.
  • Familiarity with DIIT standards and hardware/networking protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
