Our client, a large public sector organization, is seeking a Data Center Technician for an onsite contract position in downtown Brooklyn. This is a 2 year contract (35 hours per week). You can onboard as our W2 employee or independent contractor. Pay range of $65-$80/hour
Overview:
The Data Center Technician will support the Data Center Operations team at the Department of Education (DOE)/DIIT by deploying and maintaining network infrastructure. This includes racking, stacking, cabling, decommissioning, and using data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools.
Project Goals:
- Deploy data center network infrastructure (Cisco ACI, Nexus switches, ASR routers, FirePower firewalls, VMware NSX, F5 Load Balancers).
- Rack and cable all network equipment based on design documents.
- Configure and test all infrastructure components.
- Migrate legacy network systems to new platforms.
- Decommission outdated and legacy equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Install and cable data center equipment.
- Maintain and update documentation and DCIM tools.
- Troubleshoot connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.
- Uninstall and remove legacy equipment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and secure data center environment.
Must Have:
- 4+ years of hands-on experience working in a data center environment.
- Experience supporting network infrastructure and resolving LAN issues.
- Skilled in using documentation tools such as MS Excel, Visio, and Word.
- Ability to perform physical tasks required for installing and removing equipment.
Nice to Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Previous experience working in the education or public sector.
- Familiarity with DIIT standards and hardware/networking protocols.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly.
